What is One World Beat?

One World Beat is an international organization of musicians of all styles and levels who will organize and perform concerts as part of the One World Beat music festival to raise awareness and funds for global and local charitable projects.

When is the One World Beat music festival?
The One World Beat festival will take place on March 19-21 2004 in cities around the world.

Who can participate in the festival?
Anyone who loves music and wants to help the less fortunate by setting up a benefit concert can participate. One World Beat unites all musical styles -- rock, pop, hip-hop, electronic, soul, country, jazz, folk, alternative and all other forms of musical expression. One World Beat is for promoters, venue owners and musicians, whether established or up-and-coming. Participants are asked to donate all or part of their proceeds from their festival event to charity. Every contribution counts, no matter how big or small.

Why should musicians participate?
The One World Beat festival provides a unique chance to team up with your peers across the planet and show that as much as you care about your music, you care about others too.

Can I participate as a non-musician?
Yes. Every individual has skills that can help make a difference. Long before the musicians take the stage, there is a lot of organization and communication that will need to be done. If you are an enthusiastic individual or part of an association that would like to participate in the organization, you are invited to join us and help develop the festival in your area.

What do I need to participate?
If you want to organize a local event you need two basic elements: the musicians and a location for the gig. Once you have them you are ready to sign up for the festival. You can also join us as a volunteer and help us promote the festival on a global scale.

How do I sign up for the festival?
You can sign up as a band, musician, venue, non-profit organization or promoter. In order to participate you need to read and accept the conditions and then sign up.

How do I donate money?
We suggest that you charge a moderate entry fee to your benefit concert. Later, deduct your personal expenses and donate all or some of the proceeds - whatever amount you feel comfortable with - to the local charity of your choice or to a global aid organization to be chosen by One World Beat. Remember, this is not about putting money in your pockets - it's about helping.

Where does the money go?
The money goes wherever the individual participants want it to go - either to a local aid organization of their choice or to One World Beat, which will donate the full amount to a carefully selected global charity project. One World Beat is a non-profit organization. The goal is to raise money to help, not to make a profit. All charitable contributions made by One World Beat or its participants will be published on this site. If you have any specific questions you can contact: info@oneworldbeat.org

How can I become a partner?
If you would like to help us promote our festival, all you have to do is put a One World Beat banner (or link) on your website and we'll list you on our partner page with a link back to your homepage. Check out our promotion page to select a One World Beat banner.

How can I become a sponsor?
If you would like to become an official sponsor of the festival please contact us for further information.
