GERMANY: String Art Band in Aachen FEBRUARY 20th

On Friday, February 20th at 7pm in Aachen, Germany, the String Art Band will perform a concert featuring a variety of music from jazz to Irish folk, waltzes to tangos, and classical to pop. This talented ensemble--which also performed during OWB 2004--blends wit and charm along with consummate professionalism into its appearances, playing an extensive repertoire of tunes for the piano, violin, bass, and guitar. Jimmy McHugh's "On the Sunny Side of the Street" segues into a "Waltz" by Johannes Brahms, and Michel Legrand's "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" gives way to "Besame Mucho" by Consuello Velazquez.

Valentin Badiarov, a String Art Band member who is a violin virtuoso (www.violinmusiker.de) , has also organized the event both years. Last year's concert featured the String Art Band in conjunction with Pesnyary, a well-known Belo-Russian folk-rock group which was the first Soviet rock band to visit the USA, and which has played throughout Europe for the past 30-plus years. They proved to be a great attraction during the 2001 International Millennium Festival in New York.

The String Art Band also donates its time and talents to Bands-for-Benefit, an OWB partner which stages benefit concerts for fundraising to help worthy causes. See the latest of their efforts to help Asian tsunami survivors at www.charity.mrtwix.de.
