THAILAND: Four Blues Club Benefits for the Beat

On March 19th at the Coco Blues Club on Samui Island, Thailand, and at Noriega's in Bangkok, Jeff Thomsen of the popular Soi Dog Blues Band (www.soidogblues.com ), who is also co-owner of blues club, Tokyo Joe's in Bangkok, has organized an exciting duo of OWB events. They will be a fantastic complement and follow-on to the Toyko Joe's 8-band line-up performing on March 18th and 19th, at 8pm both nights. At Noriega's, Tamborine Man and Steve Barnett will be featured, starting at 9pm. At the Coco, a great show is also in the works.

Thomsen and many other caring musicians throughout Thailand have also participated in a number of tsunami-relief benefits during the past few months (see ROL Trio, who are performing for OWB at Tokyo Joe's, featured in one article on this subject: www.bangkokjungle.com ), and many members of the Tokyo Joe's 2005 event also participated in the OWB 2004 festival. Soi Dog has a special focus on HIV/AIDS and charity efforts to address it; last year, they helped raise funds for our OWB 2004 charity, "Keep A Child Alive", and in November of 2004 organized a major jazz and blues benefit in Bangkok, called "Music4Kids", to help youth affected by HIV/AIDS.
