Students organize and perform benefit concert to aid the Save Darfur Coalition

Darien, CT, USA – Hundreds of high school and college students raised more than US$4,000 in an intimate concert at the Depot on December 26. Improvisation, collaboration, and audience participation characterized the student concert, which was organized by Darien High School students Casey Herz and Julia Heck and which featured local student bands such as Lime Street Morning, Cam Rottner and Friends, and The Seascape. All proceeds from concert tickets, t-shirt sales, and extra donations went towards the Darfur crisis. In addition, students signed petitions to United States senators, urging them to fight against genocide. The Edmund Burke quote on the t-shirt captured the mood of the event: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing.”
