Baseball and rock combine as Peter Gammons and the Hot Stove All Stars perform for a sellout crowd
|
Boston, USA – ESPN baseball commentator Peter Gammons, host and founder of the Hot Stove Cool Music concert series, proved on January 6 at the Paradise that he had recovered from a brain aneurysm and was ready to rock for a good cause. The series has donated over US$1.2 million to the Jimmy Fund and the Foundation to be Named Later, the latter of which was created by Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein and his brother Paul to help disadvantaged children. |
Gammons and the Hot Stove All Stars, which consist of Gammons, Bill Janovitz, Red Sox pitcher Lenny DiNardo, and rockers The Gentlemen, led the night with jubilant renditions of popular songs by Richard Thompson and Neil Young, among others. Several baseball-related auctions were held and sets by The Pernice Brothers Band and The Figgs rounded out the night. While the music was not executed perfectly, energy and goodwill contributed to a stellar sellout night.
