Mary
Lamaro's band and her backing trio
The Broadcast Band are about to be
featured on Vienna's Radio Orange
on March 27. When she goes on the
air, the Austrian singer/songwriter
will be talking about One World Beat,
because she is proud to be one of
its acts, and wants to bring her music
to the people and make a difference
- and to get them dancing.
Mary
Lamaro got her band together in 2003
but reckons she first began her career
when at the tender age of 10 she picked
up her big brother's guitar and started
to strum and sing. With a range of
influences from Aretha Franklin, Ray
Charles and Etta James through to
the wild rock of Jimi Hendrix, Pink
Floyd and The Stones, Mary sings with
soul and passion. Writing about the
real ups-and-downs of life, she always
likes to tell it her way. From festivals
like Vienna's
Donauinselfest to wherever the music
takes her, Mary Lamaro's aim is for
her audience to forget their sorrows
and go home satisfied. What more do
you want?
