Larry
Edoff Larry's interest in world music and rhythms took him to Ghana, West Africa,
to study percussion among the Ewe people, to Havana, Cuba and to Bahia, Brazil
to expand his rhythmic vocabulary. In the summer of 2001, his band BAO toured
extensively throughout Greece, and while he was there, Larry performed at
a 12th-century fortress on the island of Corfu. Larry placed as a semi-finalist in Rolling Stone Magazine's 1999 Songwriting
Contest for emerging artists and placed as a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting
Contest. Love
is the official song for LoveProjects
and part of the UNESCO-endorsed project, New Songs for Peace. In 2004 More
Than I, a song from his new CD, In Subtle Tones, was included
in the New Songs for Peace Project as well. With its powerful message about
unity, it is a welcome addition to that project, which makes a contribution
to world peace through the musical expression of international artists. One World Beat is proud to include the Swiss
office of UNESCO as one of our own invaluable partners. Previous featured
artists include: Stuart Blance / Scotland.
