Among One World Beat's most successful partnerships has been that with UK music website UKBands.net. This website—the UK's largest band, management, label and venue promotion portal—posted a story about One World Beat and sent an email newsletter item to its subscribers inviting them to participate in the festival. Response has been superb, with many musicians contacting One World Beat to ask for more information about how they can get involved. Many of the bands have followed up by registering events with One World Beat. With the help of UKBands.net, several events have been added in England and now there are 30 events throughout England, Scotland and Wales, a team of seven event co-ordinators and other volunteers in the UK. The UKBands.net slogan is "Helping UK Bands Succeed", and One World Beat's partnership with this organization has been instrumental in helping us to publicize the festival and interest musicians in taking part, so we hope in turn to help UKBands.net and UK bands net some great success of their own! —by Mark Roach |
