El Sawy Culture Wheel Hosts Marbleheads,
Drumming, and More!
On May 6th, from
10pm to 1am, in River Hall at the El Sawy Culture
Wheel (1, 26th of July Street, Zamalek) Cairo,
One World Beat is thrilled to announce our first
event in Egypt. Three bands--Abuse, Marbleheads,
and Like Jelly--will play during the first part
of the concert, followed by drumming during the
final hour.
Marbleheads,
an acoustic, indie-rock trio, have quickly become
one of the best groups in Egypt today, with a
slew of original songs, weekly concerts in a variety
of venues, and in 2006, winner of the biggest
battle of the bands competitions the country has
seen to date.
This
event is being organized by Children's
International Summer Villages (CISV) Egypt.

Children's
International Summer Villages (CISV) is a unique
youth exchange organization. CISV evolved from
a firm conviction that lasting peace is possible
if individuals and groups can learn to live together
as friends. For CISV, the key to making this vision
a reality is to start working with children and
youth. CISV provides a range of unique, educational
group activities, which develop cross-cultural
understanding in children and youth from around
the world.
By
encouraging respect for cultural differences and
the development of self-awareness, CISV empowers
each participant to incorporate these values into
their lives as they become global citizens and
strive for a more peaceful world. There are now
CISV activities in 62 countries. For more see

Wheel is named for a cycle of novels El Sawy wrote,
called "The Sakia", or "Waterwheel".
It has four libraries, a cinema, exhibit spaces,
