Orbital Sound Unites Artists for Drumming
and 9-11 Photo Exhibit
Orbital
Sound, which made a pivotal contribution to
One World Beat 2004, is back again with another
thrilling line-up of caring and talent for 2006.
On May 6, from 4:30 to 6:30, the voice of the
drum will be used to create a positive message
of solidarity.
Orbital
Sound has invited a select group of New York drummers
to join the festival by participating in a house-party
style concert, which will take place at 10 Charles
Street in Hamilton, New York. Additionally, in
response to drummers from as far away as Tanzania,
Orbital Sound has solicited drum clips for inclusion
in the event and for subsequent rebroadcast.
New
York freelance photographer, Ron Force, will hold
a special gallery showing of his work during the
festival. His black and white photographic images
have appeared in "Here is New York: A Democracy
of Photographs"--a book which has become
the most authentic and comprehensive record of
the events of September 11th (www.hereisnewyork.org)
--and in Helen Whitney's PBS Frontline documentary,
"Faith and Doubt at Ground Zero".
Orbital
Sound will host the OWB House Party on the World
Wide Web from 5:00 to 6:00 pm (Eastern Standard
Time) where they will invite people from all over
the globe to attend from their computers, via
the Windows Media Player. They plan to record
the event for a special edited rebroadcast on
Sunday, May 7. Drum clips and samples from the
event will be made available on their website,
as will the exhibition by Ron Force. Please check
the site for more information and details on the
festival webcast, and also contact James Wunderlich
at
orbitalsound@msn.com.
Orbital
Sound Records, now in its third successful year
of business, is dedicated to providing new music
from emerging artists with an indie-culture vibe.
They have an online record shop where you can
listen and purchase high-quality mp3 tracks, a
music store where you can find gear and gift ideas,
and an email newsletter. In addition, they have
sound studio services and provide audio business
solutions.
Orbital Sound artists include James Wunderlich--whose
music "blends the expansiveness of new age
with the passion of arena rock" (as one critic
wrote)--and Leif James, a songwriter-musician
whose artistic efforts and dedication to OWB's
mission of "music making a difference"
have been greatly admired and appreciated. He
has participated in other humanitarian events,
such as the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial,
and the Third Annual Daniel Pearl Music Day network
of global concerts.
We are proud to work with these amazing artists,
and look forward to many years of the "Sound"
being around, and OWB-bound!
